Chicago and Cook County Raises the Minimum Wage

On Friday, the minimum wage in Chicago and Cook County increased. In Chicago, companies with 21 employees or more will need to pay workers a minimum of $15.40 an hour. Those with less than 21 employees must pay at least $14.50 an hour. For tipped workers, the minimum is $9.24. In Cook County, workers will be paid at least $13.35 an hour, while at least $7.40 for tipped workers.
