WHAT: It’s been a tumultuous year for Latinos in Illinois, burdened by an unfriendly political climate. But 2017 has seen Latinos become the largest ethnic minority in Chicago. With that comes great responsibilities and a renewed call for better inclusion at the policy level.

 The Latino Policy Forum will convene local, state and national leaders in Chicago to discuss proactive steps to bring Latinos to the forefront of public policy issues by promoting civic engagement while calling for a unified voice between Latino and African-American civic leaders.

Janet Murguia, President and CEO of UnidosUS (formerly National Council of La Raza) is a renowned civil rights leader who continues to break down barriers for Latinos in this country. Her speech will focus on the importance of civic engagement, being leaders in the community and building strong relationships with other minority groups for a shared future in this nation.
