First Students Awarded Scholarship Named For Fallen CPD Officer

Twelve high school students make up the first class of recipients for a scholarship named after fallen CPD officer Ella French. Most of the kids in the inaugural class of Ella French scholars have a parent working for the Chicago Police Department. The mother of Officer French read through applicants' essays, and said the winners understood her daughter's commitment to community and making people's lives better.
