The U.S. Postal Service is honoring the late author Ernest Gaines with a new Forever stamp. Gaines is best remembered for his novels "A Lesson Before Dying" and "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman." The Postal Service unveiled the new stamp during a ceremony Monday at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where Gaines was a professor and writer in residence. Gaines is the 46th honoree in the Black Heritage Stamp Series.
