Hammond's Candies recalled their 4-ounce bags of Dark Chocolate Filled Mini Waffle Cones, sold in Illinois, on September 5th due to the undeclared presence of a common allergen.

According to the United States Food & Drug Administration, the recalled products, distributed across 38 states, "may contain undeclared milk" which poses the risk of a "serious or life-threatening allergic reaction" to individuals allergic to the ingredient missing from the label.

Consumers should avoid Hammond's Candies "4-ounce bags of Dark Chocolate Filled Mini Waffle Cones" with UPC code: 6 91355 90513 5 and item number: FC23212. Best By dates featured on the recalled products include: 03/20/2025 and 05/20/2025. Customers can find the aforementioned information can be found "on the lower-center region of the back of the bag."

As of October 3, 2024, there has been one allergic reaction reported as a result of consuming a Dark Chocolate Filled Mini Waffle Cone. After further investigation following the reaction, it was discovered that the product contained "more than trace amounts of milk proteins... not indicated on the packaging" (per the FDA).

Officials are urging consumers who have already purchased a recalled bag of Hammond's Candies' Dark Chocolate Filled Mini Waffle Cones to throw them out, or return them for a full refund. Individuals with questions are encouraged to contact "Devon DeVries at Hammond's Candies at 1-888-226-3999 or at 303-333-5588 x 180 Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm MST."
