Happy Birthday to Stevie Wonder

Happy Birthday to Stevie Wonder! He is celebrating his 69th birthday!

The legend was born on May 13, 1950. Wonder actually wasn't born blind. He says that him being born premature and an accident that the hospital made resulted him in becoming permanently blind.

The 25 time Grammy award winner was the youngest solo artist to have a #1 song on the Billboard Top11. His song, "Fingertips - Part 2" hit #1 when he was just 13 years old.

Stevie Wonder's "Happy Birthday" is a classic! Did you know that that song is one of the main reasons why Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday is a National Holiday?

Reports say that in 1981, Wonder along with many others were fighting for the government to make Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday a holiday. Wonder used his song "Happy Birthday" to help their fight gain momentum and spread the word. Former President Ronald Reagan approved the holiday just 2 years later.
