One minute you may be uploading pictures, text etc...your phone just shuts down with no service. A SIM swap attack can happen even if a criminal doesn't have your pin, they can convince a wireless carrier representative to issue new SIM card information to their device. This is how they gain access to all of your accounts. In 2019, more than 700 people filed reports.
There is a way to protect yourself, be sure to have a strong Pin or password attached to all of your accounts. You can also enact a port freeze, this would not allow anyone to switch your SIM or phone number to another phone or carrier. Contact your Carrier. Be Safe!!!!
