Medicaid enrollment is expected to drop by more than eight-and-a-half percent in the upcoming year. According to KFF, formerly known as the Kaiser Family Foundation, that's because state Medicaid agencies are unwinding enrollment protections put in place during the pandemic. State spending on Medicaid is expected to go up, however, as federal matching funds also expire.
