Illinois texting & driving violations will begin July 1

Starting July 1st, If you are simply holding a phone to talk or text while driving, no more warnings, you will get a ticket (moving violation) this means no more quickly checking text at the stop lights, talking or going to google maps, Unless you have a hands free phone technology in your vehicle

It is illegal to text or talk while holding a device at a stop sign, at a red light or while sitting in traffic.

If you receive three moving violations within a year, your license will be suspended, unless you are reporting an emergency or if you're parked on the shoulder of the street. & drivers who are 18 and younger are not allowed to use hands free or Bluetooth devices. So park & talk or wait until you get to your destination unless you have hands free. Happy Safe Driving!
