House Democrats are electing New York Congressman Hakeem Jeffries as their new leader. Jeffries will succeed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has led Democrats in the House for two decades. Jeffries will become minority leader when the new Congress convenes in January. He will also make history as the first Black party leader in either chamber of Congress.
