WHO Renames Monkeypox As 'Mpox'

Global health experts are renaming monkeypox "mpox" over concerns the original name could be viewed as "racist and stigmatizing." The World Health Organization announced it will begin using "mpox" following a series of consultations with experts. Both names will be used simultaneously for a year while monkeypox is phased out.
