Happy Birthday to Shirley Caesar!
The First Lady of Gospel Music is 81 years young today! Shirley Ann Caesar-Williams was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina. She is one of 13 children and recorded her first song in 1951.
Caesar has been in 3 broadway musicals including, "Mama I Want to Sing."
She's truly a trailblazer in the gospel industry! She has released over 40 albums and has won 12 Grammy Awards and 14 Stellar Awards. In 2016, Caesar received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Earlier this year she was a guest judge on Sunday Best and also performed.
