Governor JB Pritzker is expected to sign a bill today that will double the gas tax and increase the tax on cigarettes.
The bill will take the state's $.19 gas tax and increase it to $.38. The bill will also increase the tax on cigarette's by $1. These increases will help fund the $45 billion spending plan that will upgrade roads, bridges, parks and university buildings statewide.
