Aretha Franklin documentary is green lit

The Queen of Soul's passing has brought about much controversy especially hen it comes to releasing a documentary or film about her life.  In 1972, over a two day period, the Queen of Soul performed Amazing Grace in a Los Angeles church with Reverend James Cleveland’s choir.  No major deal has been set, but it will premiere in select theaters New York and Los Angeles.

The legendary concert she gave was filmed and a dispute between Producer Alan Elliot and the Franklin estate have come to a deal to have the film be able to be distributed. Elliot told the Washington Post, "We’re excited to finally bring the movie to the public and expose this legacy project — this is the premier document of American popular music that’s ever been filmed,”
