Bridgeport School Renamed After White Sox Legend Minnie Minoso

A grade school on Chicago's Southwest Side is now bearing the name of a White Sox great. The school was formerly known as McClellan Elementary has been renamed Minnie Minoso Academy. The native from Cuba played 17 seasons in the Major Leagues and is considered the first Black Cuban to play in the majors. The Sox retired Minoso's jersey in 1983 and there is a statue in his image at Guaranteed Rate Field.
