Chicago police officers are no longer permitted to chase people on foot for minor offenses or for just running away. Minor infractions include suspended licenses, public drinking, or parking violations; however, officers are allowed to chase people if they anticipate or witness a felony, major traffic offense, or a Class A misdemeanor.
