Today, September 12th, Jennifer Hudson is celebrating 38 years of life!
The Chicago native grew up in Englewood and attended Dunbar Vocational High School. She rose to fame after competing in American Idol. While she didn’t win, Hudson’s career took off when she played Effie White in Dreamgirls. Her role landed her several awards including an Academy and Golden Globe award.
Hudson and her family are still in our prayers after her mother, brother and nephew where killed in a shooting back in 2008.
Hudson sings R&B and gospel. Check her out singing “Amazing Grace” at Aretha Franklin’s funeral earlier this year below.
