CPD officers fired for allegedly trying to cover up Laquan McDonald case

4 Chicago police officers are out of a job. They have officially been fired for allegedly trying to cover up the Laquan McDonald murder.

The Chicago Police Board voted 9-0 to fire Sgt. Stephen Franko and Officers Janet Mondragon, Daphne Sebastian and Ricardo Viramontes. They were accused of purposely providing false statements in order to make it look like the shooting of Laquan McDonald was justified.

Jason Van Dyke is in prison for murdering McDonald. He was convicted of second degree murder back in 2018.
