Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, that's the name of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new bundle of joy!
Wednesday morning the Duke and Duchess of Sussex introduced the baby to the world inside St. George's Hall. Reports say they broke royal tradition by waiting 2 days before showing off their latest tradition to the world. After the newborn's introduction, he was taken to meet his great grandparents, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip at Windsor Castle. Just a few hours later, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released Baby Sussex's name on Instagram.
The new parents shocked the world with the choice of the name. Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor steps away from royal tradition. Reports say their name choice is a signal that the royal couple is trying to be more modern.
Archie is the nickname for Archibald meaning "genuine" and "bold." The name Harrison means "son of Harry" and is normally used as a last name. Reports say that Baby Sussex only having 2 names also steers away from royal tradition. Many of the royals have 3 or 4. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did not choose an aristocratic title for their son. Reports say for now he will be known as "Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor."
Ultimately, it's said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted to give their son a name that would help him move easily among society's ranks in the future.
