On the city's Auburn-Gresham neighborhood, school principal, Kimberly Henderson or Oglesby Elementary School is inspiring her students in a unique way: by posting encouraging messages on the walls at school.
In the girl's bathroom, for example, messages reading "fix your crown" and "you are beautiful" are reminders for girls that they are worthy. Henderson explained in an interview with NBC5 that “how appropriate is that for our young queens to see 'fix your crown' as they’re looking in to the mirror". In an age where negativity surrounds everything, it's important to remind young children to grow positive.
Henderson has been making positive changes at Oglesby for quite sometime.
What a wonderful way to stay connected to her students, beyond the classroom.
