This past weekend Marian Catholic high school celebrated its 60th anniversary at Guaranteed Rate Field for the White Sox game. As tradition has it, there has to be someone to throw the first pitch in a baseball game. Sister Maru Jo Sobiek from Marian, threw the first pitch, but what happened was remarkable. Instead of throwing the pitch close to the plate, she went all in and threw from the mound! While she waited, she bounced the ball off her bicep and caught it in her hand. Baseball fans around the city and the country were impressed, even making TMZ headlines.
Of her pitch, Sister Mary Jo said, "As an athlete, you gotta be all in, and I knew that my coaches and my teammates, when they saw that, they would be like, 'You gotta do the real thing,' and it's all or nothing. I had to do it from the top."
Check out her performance!
