Gretchen Carlson, the head of the Miss America Pageant has announced that the swimsuit portion of the competition will be eliminated and the evening gown portion will be modified. During her appearance on Good Morning America, Gretchen mentioned that they "will no longer judge based on their outward physical appearance"and that they will judge women on "what comes out of their mouth" and they hope to be "open, transparent, inclusive" for women of all shapes and sizes.
She continued on that she wants the organization to inspire people to join the organization to celebrate their accomplishments, talents talents and give them scholarships.
