A local woman from the southside of the city has died while picking up her granddaughter from preschool. The woman, Julia Callaway was crossing the street at West 79th Street and South Lafayette Avenue, just off the Dan Ryan Expressway. As she crossed a Nissan being chased by police hit her and nearby cameras caught she was flung about 50 feet in the air. The woman's husband, David Brown drove past the intersection and had no idea what had happened to his wife.
Of the incident he said, "I'm mad. I can't do nothing about it, so I'm just mad. I'm just mad. I can't point fingers because - I'm just mad that my wife has been murdered. Basically, she's been murdered and I can't bring her back."
The drivers and the vehicle were eventually caught and charges are pending.
