NAACP Sues Mississippi Over Policing

The NAACP is suing Mississippi's Governor and other state officials over "separate but unequal policing." Republican governor Tate Reeves announced violent crime in Jackson has made it necessary to expand Capitol Police patrols in the city and authorize some appointed rather than elected judges. The new laws would create a temporary court system in Jackson with state appointed judges who would handle cases brought to them by the Capitol police.
