A Donut And Fried Chicken Sandwich Is Being Tested Out AT KFC

KFC is getting into the doughnut game.

The fried chicken chain announced on Tuesday (September 17) they'll be launching a test run for brand new menus item that, yes, include glazed doughnuts. The "Chicken and Donuts" menu items will be available for a limited time at 40+ locations in the Norfolk and Richmond, Virginia area, as well as Pittsburgh.

So, what can customers at these lucky KFC locations test out? KFC will offer a basket that pairs chicken on the bone or chicken tenders with one or two doughnuts. There will also be a sandwich option. The chicken sandwich swaps out the tradition bun for two glazed doughnuts. The chicken-and-doughnut meal will cost $5.50 for one doughnut and $7.50 for two doughnuts. The sandwich will cost $6, or as a combo meal for $8. KFC said customers can also add a doughnut, which are served hot, to any meal at these locations for $1.

According to a KFC press release, the fried chicken joint will examine this test run to see if their customers are craving the doughnut and chicken combination on a national scale. If it goes well, these menu items could be rolled out at KFC locations nationwide. The press release revealed KFC was inspired by the rising popularity of this culinary pairing in cities like Portland, San Diego and Philadelphia.
